Philip is Director of Cross Industry Innovation for Corporate Innovation at Evonik Industries AG, a global specialty chemicals company, headquartered in Essen, Germany. His group works with large multinational partners to develop and strengthen broad-based innovation relationships to share resources and bring products to market faster. These partnerships are maintained not only with top customers, but also with “unusual” partners for Evonik…companies that are outside of Evonik’s normal value chain. Through this “unusual” approach, Phil and his colleagues often find unknown synergies that benefit all involved. Before joining Evonik in 2013, Phil ran commercialization efforts for a major US University. Phil started his career at a seed-stage venture capital firm, and earned his Ph.D. and BA from Rice University.
